In the words of the great Pablo Picasso, “Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot; others transform the yellow spot into a sun.” Great works of art are always rejected by society in the first instance. Gone are those days when families would breathe fire at the thought of their children taking up art, music or theatre, their passion as their profession. Gradually, the world is changing and so are the thought processes of every human in the world.
Adding art into the lives of every child is an extraordinary gift that will not only enrich them for a lifetime but give wings to their imaginations. No matter what their age is, children simply love to use their imaginations and creative minds. Art is considered the best way that helps to expand the horizon of these children and opens the doors to a whole new world.
Art, music and theatre are considered to develop skills in the students that helps them to overcome stage fears, shyness to speak before public crowded forums, perform without any doubt of failure. Music allows the heart and mind to soothe itself down, theatre gives a voice to the voiceless, dance allows kids to float freely in the air of sweet music.
Often parents are misled by the professional career demands that rule the present day world and force the kids to take up vocational courses, which kids might not be interested in pursuing. Parents need to realize that no profession is greater or lesser than the other and also that forcing the kid to do something now, may lead to rebellious behaviour in the kid in later years, if he or she fails to accomplish the task.
There are different forms of art, but parents and schools should motivate and encourage the children to learn them devoid of any pre-conceived notions. Children should be allowed to pursue their passion and should not be stopped if they wish to make it their profession. Both parents and students should be counselled simultaneously to discuss the kid’s likes and dislikes and parents should be advised not to push the child too much towards its area of dislikes, as it will lead to a rebellious behaviour and is sure to harm his or her academic performance in the future. The pillars of strength in the lives of children are their parents and their teachers in school, who encourage and guide them to do their best. So, let every child fly high to create a masterstroke of his dreams on the canvas of his life.
