In the words of the great South-African revolutionary and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon, which you can use to change the World.”
The educational system in India has remained in a stagnant position from the past 200 years after our freedom. We still are following those primitive methods of teaching and learning in schools that was once handed over to us by the British colonialists. With a rise in professionalism over the past few years, parents attention has shifted over to the International schools in India, which have sprang up in several cities within India.
These International schools follow the international curriculum, which includes those such as the Cambridge international exam or International Baccalaureate. Initially these schools were instituted for the children of the diplomats, in order to provide them with the same curriculum of education anywhere around the world. What initially began as an alternative for the kids of these Diplomats because of their postings in different countries, has now become a forte of premier educational institutions to render international class of educational facilities to children.
The primary reason for the rising popularity of these International schools is a result of their globally accepted curriculum, which tends to lay more emphasis on the skills and know-how of the kids, rather than trying to assess their memorizing ability. These schools follow the Indian ideology of “every child is special” and children should be allowed to grow out of their inhibitions and fears gradually and bloom into young and talented individuals of tomorrow’s India.
Their course material is designed in a way that would make the children more versatile and not restrict them to bookish knowledge of the World and matters beyond that. This quality makes the International schools more popular in the international arena. Compared to the other Indian schools, International schools have a luxuriously high fee structure, which is a result of the extra-curricular activities that they have planned in the children’s curriculum. With the growth in individuals pay income, parents these days do not mind to invest that extra amount to give their children the best education possible.
